GalvyOS

GalvyOS / Roadmap

Public product evolution.

This roadmap summarizes where GalvyOS is going without turning the public website into the engineering backlog. Status labels describe product maturity, not promised dates.

The roadmap describes direction and maturity. It does not publish internal dates or constitute a release commitment.
01
Consolidated in current scope

Core platform and userland

Maintain an independent base that boots, runs isolated processes and services, and provides a shell, tools and a complete user session.

  • BIOS and UEFI
  • Multiprocessing and scheduling
  • Processes, IPC and services
  • GShell and native utilities
  • Administration with galctl
02
Functional · actively expanding

Desktop, graphics and multimedia

The graphical session and virtualized Vulkan already work. The next maturity step depends on physical GPU support, audio and real desktop/laptop devices.

  • Native desktop and compositor
  • Vulkan on supported virtualization
  • KMS and physical GPU support
  • Audio and multimedia
  • Advanced laptop input

Advanced

Storage and filesystems

GalFS has a broad functional foundation. Visible work is focused on physical qualification, performance and safe interoperability with external filesystems.

  • Native GalFS
  • NVMe, AHCI and USB
  • FAT32 and exFAT
  • EXT4 with evolving read/write support
  • NTFS with conservative write promotion
04

Networking and administration

Dual-stack networking and SSH already form an operational base. Evolution continues toward more services, tools and administration scenarios.

  • IPv4 and IPv6
  • Secure DNS and NTP
  • SSH, SFTP and forwarding
  • Configuration and diagnostics
  • Additional network services
05
Active priority

Packages and lifecycle

Close the complete journey from installing software to updating the system, rebooting, validating and being able to roll back or recover safely.

  • End-to-end package flow
  • Verified updates
  • Post-update reboot and validation
  • Rollback
  • Recovery on real storage
06
Active priority

Reference physical hardware

Complete at least one real PC/laptop profile end to end before expanding the matrix for breadth.

  • Real storage, USB and Ethernet
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • Physical GPU and display
  • Audio
  • Touchpad/I2C-HID and power management

Application compatibility

Expand compatibility from real applications and observed blockers, without promising broad coverage that does not yet exist.

  • Linux console applications and toolchains
  • Linux coverage guided by real cases
  • Gradual Linux GUI integration
  • First Win64 verticals
  • Broader Windows compatibility over time
08
Before public release

Release engineering and public preview

Turn an integrated and tested state into a reproducible, documented image that is honest about its limits before handing it to third parties.

  • Frozen reproducible commit
  • Signed ISO
  • Supported hardware matrix
  • Release notes and known limitations
  • Sufficient public documentation
